Approximately 80% of adult smokers started smoking before the age of
18.

4,000 young people under the age of 18 try their first cigarette.

Quit Smoking
Quitting smoking consist of 2 stages:
Overcoming Physical Dependency
Use a combination of the followings to help you
overcome the physical dependency.

Seek help instead of D.I.Y. Get lots of help and
get into good quit smoking program.

On top of that, use physician-endorsed methods: nicotine replacement and
Zyban.

Use Aversion therapy -- self-administering a mild electric shock from an ordinary 9 volt battery as one smokes a cigarette.

Read some motivation book on quit smoking.

Deep Breathing (Do it three times)
- Every time you want a cigarette.

Nibble on low calorie foods like celery, apples,
cucumber and carrots.

Chew gum or suck on cinnamon sticks.

After dinner, drink a cup of mint tea or eat a peppermint
candy, instead of cigarette.

Workout in the Gym.

Gradual cut down of the number of sticks of
cigarette, don't stop abruptly.
Overcoming Psychological Dependency
Use a combination of the followings to help you
overcome the psychological dependency.

Take deep breath and hold it for 3-5 minutes
when there is an urge or a temptation.

Learn to say "NO" when offered a
cigarette by someone and walk away.

Understand the benefits of not smoking and
negative effects of "Second Hand Smoke" for the people
around, especially your love ones.

Tell yourself that you don't need cigarette and
you feel good being smoke-free. Tell yourself "YOU CAN
STAY SMOKE FREE AND YOU CAN DO IT".
Love yourself and the people
around you, lead a smoke free life... ...
