What is the normal cycle of hair loss?
About
10 percent of your hair falls out every 2 to 3 months
It is normal to shed some hair each day as part of this cycle. However, some people may experience
excessive hair loss
Some common causes of excessive hair loss:

Hair Loss after a long period of illness or
major surgery: Usually due to the stress and it's temporary.

Hormonal Problem: Hair loss may occur if male
(androgens) or female (estrogens) hormones are out of balance.

Pregnancy: Change in hormones during
pregnancy.

Medication: Some medicine causes hair
loss. For example: anticoagulants, Vitamin A, contraceptive
pills and antidepressants.

Infections: Fungal infection of the
scalp.

Diseases: For example: Lupus and
Diabetes.

Last but not least,
improper care of hair can also cause
hair loss.
Constant pull on the hair can also cause hair
loss. For example: wearing pigtails or cornrows or use of tight
hair roller
Hot oil hair treatment or chemical hair
treatment can also causes hair loss |
The above improper care if
prolonged, can cause scarring of the scalp that result in
permanent hair loss.
